This is the best “gravy” that I have experienced since living in New York City in the 1980’s. Some of my friends there were of Italian heritage and the “passed on” recipes always seem to be the best. None of the other grocery shelf sauces have that Loreto subtle homemade quality that is complex and rich. Mary Loreto is no longer with us, but I hope that her product will live on indefinitely.
